Finding a Donkey

As a starting point, here are some companies that hire donkeys for events around the UK:

Finding Roman Soldiers

If you need Roman Soldiers – costumes, armour, amateur actors – the Colchester Roman Society is partnering with the Passion Trust to offer Roman Soldiers complete with historically accurate costumes to Passion Plays around the UK. The Colchester Roman Society researches the recreation and equipment, training and lifestyles of the Roman military and civilians during the 1st and 2nd centuries.

Please contact them here or on their Facebook page or through the Passion Trust. Visit the Roman Military Society’s website here.

You might also find the Roman Reenactment Societies a good place to look. For example, the Ermine Street Guard Roman Reenactment Society is dedicated to research into the Roman Army and the reconstruction of Roman armour and equipment.

Each piece of equipment is made as authentically as is practicable based on recent research. Everything is made by Guard members to high standards of workmanship and accuracy and is continually being added to and improved as new information and finds become available.
